PhiloMath University Opens in Abuja

The tertiary education landscape of the federal capital territory is set to witness a major boost as PhiloMath University opens its doors for undergraduate academic programme early next month.

The coming of PhiloMath University, would no doubt offer parents and potential students the opportunity to have quality options in the selection and choice of university to pursue higher education in the FCT.

The new university will be opening its doors for undergraduate programme with two faculties namely; Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences.

Already, the National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved nine courses for the new university. The courses are Law, Banking and Finance, Business Administration, Criminology and Security Studies. Others are Entrepreneurship, Economics, International Relations, Political Science and Public Administration

Located in Kuje, one of the satellite towns of the federal capital, the new university is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Abuja city and commands a serene and unique ambiance for learning and research.

As part of strategic moves to make PhiloMath the university of first choice in the FCT and beyond, the new university announced a scholarship programme for its prospective students. The scholarship is open to all students irrespective of their course of study.

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Adeniyi Olayanju said the scholarship award would cover up to 50 per cent of the tuition fees. He further explained that the scholarship programme was aimed at ensuring easy access to quality education in Nigeria.

The Vice Chancellor stated that PhiloMath is determined to live out its vision of being an internationally recognized institution of higher learning that is focused on educating leaders with global perspectives, who will come up with more innovative ways of changing the world through teaching, learning and dynamic leadership.

According to him “Our mission is to promote learning by offering undergraduate, postgraduate and professional students the knowledge and skills needed to succeed as persons and professionals; to distinguish itself as a diverse socially responsible learning community of high-quality scholarship and academic rigour and to draw from the intellectual and economic resources of the rich Nigerian cultures”

Professor Olayanju assured prospective students that PhiloMath would engage “the core values of teamwork for wealth creation and innovation through commitment to excellence and passion for productivity”

He further assured that the new university has put in place quality accommodation and other facilities that would guarantee a conducive environment for learning and research.
