Electoral Bill: I’m Excited- Ohuabunwa

The Convener of the New Nigeria Group (NNG) and a top contender for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential ticket, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa has expressed excitement at the signing of the 2022 Electoral Bill into law.

Ohuabunwa while reacting to the signing of the bill into law after a sustained pressure by different stakeholder groups, said that Nigeria is now on the march towards institutionalizing the culture of credible elections in the country.

“I commend President Buhari for signing the bill into law. Nigeria is on the march towards having more credible elections, Ohuabunwa stated.

He expressed delight that the signing of the new electoral bill has rekindled people’s confidence in the electoral 2023 electoral processes.

According to him, ‘Nigerians will now look forward to the 2023 general elections with increased confidence as their votes would count in bringing about the desired change that would lead to the building of a new Nigeria”.

The PDP presidential Aspirant tasked the Independent National Electoral Commission to get to work immediately as “there would be no reason to fail on their mandate of delivering free and credible elections”

His words: INEC has no reason to fail now. The Commission has been handed a piece of legislation to enhance it’s efficiency, the ball is now in their court to deliver an election that meets the expectations of greater number of Nigerians”.

Ohuabunwa further challenged to electorate to buy into the electoral process ahead of the 2023 general elections.

According to him, the inclusion 9f electronic transmission results would go a long way in ensuring that people’s votes count in determining who occupies elected public offices in the country.

“Our votes would now count. Let us all go out now and participate in the electoral processes by first registering and obtaining our Permanent Voters Card (PVCs) in order to vote in candidates that will build a new Nigeria of our dreams, a nation free from poverty, corruption and insecurity”, he further stated.
