NNPP Targets .3m Members in Jigawa

The New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) says it is targeting about 300,000 members in Jigawa, after the defection of the Kwankwaso group into the party.
Mr. Gambo Alawo, the state Chairman of the party said this when he briefed newsmen on the party’s caucus meeting in Dutse on Thursday.
“I’m here to brief you about the outcome of our state caucus meeting held on Wednesday in Dutse where we deliberated on recent development as over 300,000 people across the 27 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state have indicated interest in joining the party.
“We’re highly delighted with this development and we’re ready to receive them in our great party, the NNPP,” Alawo said.
He said that the party would give opportunities to Nigerians to pursue their dreams inline with its constitution.
The chairman also advised those wishing to join the party to follow due process in their membership registration.
“We promise to provide an enabling environment for all individuals seeking to join our party, we will treat them with justice, fairness and mutual equality.
“However, we want to draw the attention of those who want to join our party to follow the right way for their membership registration,” he said.
Alawo said that the measure was to avoid mistakes that might affect the chances of the party at the 2023 general elections.
“This is to avoid any error that might affect our chances of winning elections in the forthcoming 2023 general elections in Jigawa and Nigeria at large,” he said.
Mr. Awwal Ahmad, the NNPP state Organizing Secretary, said the party was working on plans to attract some political bigwigs in the state.
“Serious consultations are ongoing to woo some political bigwigs in the state. The failure of APC and PDP will give us the chance to establish government in Jigawa and Nigeria,” Ahmad said.

He said that the party plans to hold caucus meeting at local level in its membership drive.
“After the caucus at local government level, we will get the number of people that have so far registered with the party from our zonal chairmen,” he said.
