Collaboration Key to Economic Advancement of Nigeria- Mamora

The Minister of Science, technology and Innovation Dr. Adeleke Mamora has said that collaboration is the key to economic advancement of Nigeria.

Dr. Mamora said this when he received in audience the officials of Nigeria Copy Right Commission (NCC) led by the Director- General, Dr. John Asein in his office today at Abuja.

The Minister said that Copy Right Commission is mandated to preserve the Intellectual Properties of government, Individuals and Companies from people pirating them.

He reiterated that Intellectual Property cuts across all the sectors of the economy and better be preserved for the development of our nation.

Mamora commended the commission for working in synergy with other relevant stakeholders in Intellectual Property, tapping and utilizing one another’s knowledge and experiences for development and growth of the nation noting that if you want to achieve less, work in silos but if you want to create giant strides work in collaboration with others.

According to Mamora the Ministry will give the Commission all the necessary support to ensure that the policy is adopted by the Federal Executive Council Level (FEC).

Earlier, the representative of the Director General of National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP) Dr. Ephraim Okejiri said that the visit by delegation is to brief the Minister on the Organizations efforts on the adoption of the National Policy on Intellectual Property by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) .

Speaking, the Senior Counsellor World Intellectual Property Copyright Organization ,Mrs. Loretta Asied said that the visit to the Ministry is to solicit for support from relevant stakeholders , the management team and Federal Ministry of Science ,Technology and Innovation inclusive.

She further said that the Organization intends to engage more with the inventors,
Universities ,Small and Medium Scale Enterprises(SMES) by ensuring adequate commitment to using Intellectual Properties(IP) to achieve developmental needs of the nation.
