Association Trains 315 Bauchi Women Farmers in Enterprising Skills

The Association of Small Scale Agro Producers in Nigeria (ASSAPIN), Bauchi State chapter, has trained 315 women farmers in business cooperative registration and networking for funding opportunities, to enhance their entrepreneurial development.

ASSAPIN’s Programme Officer, Mrs. Mariya Alkasim, stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Monday in Bauchi.

Alkasim said the women belonged to various saving and loan groups drawn from Bauchi, Dass, Ganjuwa, Jama’are, Katagum and Warji Local Government Areas of the state.

She said the beneficiaries were exposed to the processes of accessing market information and strategies, using registered cooperatives for positive market outcomes.

The training, she said, also aimed at creating awareness on market alliance, to maximize profit and proper documentation.

“We encouraged them to form cooperative groups and register with relevant authorities to access funds for their businesses.

“Twenty one networks are formally formed with minimum of 15 members who are into agro business.

“The cooperatives will network among themselves and share market information for better transactions,” she said.
