Create Jobs to Curb Insecurity -Abuja Royal Father Urges Government
The traditional ruler of Jiwa Chiefdom in Abuja Municipal Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Alhaji Idris Musa, has charged government at all levels and the organized private sector operators (OPS), to create Jobs for the teeming youths of the country as a deliberate strategy to curb the rising wave of insecurity in the land.
Musa, who gave the charge in his 2021 Sallah message, noted that it is only through job creation that we can keep the youths positively engaged and divert their attention from all forms of crime and other criminalities.
While expressing gratitude to God for making it possible for his subjects and other Nigerians to witness the 2021 Id el Kabir, the traditional ruler also challenged the OPS to compliment government’s efforts in creating jobs in order to take the youths off the streets.
He blamed the insecurity ravaging the country partly on lack of enough job opportunities for the teeming youths and called on government to create an enabling environment that would encourage the private sector operators to deepen their investment in the economy, in order to drive job creation opportunities.
According to the royal father, people are partly driven to criminal acts such as banditry and kidnapping as a last resort to survive, adding that corruption and other similar vices do not engender progress for any society.
He appealed to well meaning and well-to-do Nigerians to invest their wealth in the country by establishing industries and other job creating enterprises in order to develop the country and create employment for the citizens.
“If you go to work from 6am and come back by 6pm, when will you have the time to plan evil, because after going out very early and coming back late, the next thing for you is to rest. Engagement of our youths in employment will reduce crime and criminalities to the barest minimum”, Musa stated.
