FLASH: Shettima Leads Heavy APC Delegation To Presidential Tribunal
Vice-President Kashim Shettima led top All Progressives Congress (APC) dignitaries to the Appeal Court, venue of the presidential tribunal, on Wednesday.
The tribunal will deliver judgment on three cases challenging the outcome of the February 25 presidential election.Coming about a month after the court heard the closing arguments of parties to the petitions and about two weeks to the expiration of the statutory 180-day lifespan within which the cases filed in March must be heard and determined.
The nation’s number two man is currently seated in court amid other key APC chieftains such as Abdullahi Ganduje, National Chairman of the ruling party; Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President; Nuhu Ribadu, National Security Adviser, Festus Keyamo, Aviation Minister, among others.
At least four APC governors have been sighted in court. They are Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa), Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Mai Mala Buni (Yobe), Hope Uzodinma (Imo).
Big wigs of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Iliya Damagum, acting National Chairman, are also in court alongside those of Labour Party.
All roads leading to court of the appeal complex is being manned by multiple security operatives, drawn from various arms, including the armed forces, police, men of the Department of State Service (DSS) and the Civil Defence.
The same formation has been placed within the court complex.
