The venue was the Rotunda Hall of the ministry of foreign affairs where members of the diplomatic corps gathered to listen, as the soft-spoken ex-soldier, briefed them on preparations for the first ever Taraba International Investment Summit, TARAVEST 2025, billed for Jalingo, the Taraba State capital on May 21, 2025.
Setting the ball rolling prior to the Governor’s address, the Chairman of the Taraba International Investment Summit, Hon Ndudi Elumelu, assured the diplomatic community that all necessary arrangements have been put in place to ensure a hitch-free summit. He assured the audience that the Governor would elaborate on the surfeit of natural resources, a congenial governance environment hallmarked by tax incentives, guaranteed security, and rich tourism potentials that stand Taraba out as the land of endless possibilities and an investment haven.
The Governor did not disappoint.
Briefing the diplomats Kefaş explained the summit is geared towards showcasing Taraba to the outside world with a view to mobilizing high impact investment for the people of the state.
He reassured both local and foreign investors that Taraba has all it takes to make the State the investment destination of choice. According to the governor, since he assumed office two years ago, the Northeastern State has enjoyed peace and has zero incidence of insecurity.
The Governor said that Taraba State is the choice destination for investment in agriculture as it boasts of over 44,000 square kilometres of arable land. Kefaş also assured the diplomats that Taraba is blessed with huge deposits of essential solid minerals such as gold, lithium, limestone, zinc among others.

The governor implored the diplomats to help in rallying support, technical assistance and development agencies from their respective countries. He further assured that the state government has put in place mouthwatering incentives for investors coming into the state which among others include tax incentives.
According to the governor, his administration has done a lot of groundwork to stabilize the state, adding that “we have been progressive in sustaining the security on ground”. Earlier, Amb Anderson Madubuike who stood in for the Foreign Affairs Minister, commended the Taraba State Government for convening the summit, pointing out that the summit is in line with the development agenda of the President Tinubu administration.
Madubuike described Taraba as “indeed nature’s gift to Nigeria” that is waiting to be explored, urging the diplomatic community to participate fully at the summit.
The briefing was preceded by a 10-minute documentary on Taraba State, highlighting what was on ground before the assumption of office by Kefaş and what has been achieved by him in the last two years. Highlight of the documentary were testimonials by some leaders, among them former head of state, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, former Vice President Atikur Abubakar and Governor Fintiri of Adamawa State applauding the transformational leadership of Governor Kefas and justifying the need for partnering with the state government in its vision of creating the template for a mutually beneficial partnership with the state.
