On the ‘Sidelines’ of UNGA, Bala Mohammed Woos Investors

-HP Capital to Inject N168b in Bauchi Health City, Create Thousands of Jobs

For Bauchi state Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, any opportunity to showcase the investment opportunities of Bauchi is grabbed with both hands.

One such opportunity came when he was among the Governors invited by the Presidency to meet with CEOs of over 50 global businesses, at the Nigeria International Economic Forum held in New York, on the 22nd of September 2022, on the sidelines of the 2022 United Nations General Assembly.  

Coming on the heels of the recent diplomatic cum business to Bauchi by the high-powered Chinese delegation, it was definitely a good opportunity for the Governor to promote investment opportunities and areas of partnerships in Bauchi State. Many investors expressed interest in the investment opportunities in Bauchi State.

In London, Governor Bala Mohammed met with Mr. Nandishwar Kaushal, Chairman of HP Capital, the core investor in the proposed Bauchi Health City that will comprise a teaching hospital, college of medicine, conference Centre, sports arena and a waste to energy plant. The project promises cumulative FDI in the region of $240m or N168 billion.

Speaking with True Vision, the Special Adviser to Governor Bala Mohammed, Comrade Mukhtar Gidado said the State Government would confidently and aggressively promote investment now that the Governor has laid a solid foundation in the areas of infrastructure, social amenities, people empowerment, due process and ease of doing business. Recalling President Buhari’s commendation of Governor Bala Mohammed during the commissioning of the Bauchi Regional Water project, Gidado opined that he was not surprised that the Governor had the opportunity to make the trip, since it was only natural that the country should put some of its best feet forward before the global arena.

Governor Bala Mohammed was accompanied by some of his close aids, including the Chairman of the Bauchi State Investment Commission, Alhaji Baba Isa whose agency is spearheading the total re-engineering of the investment climate in Bauchi State.
