Paul Bassey’s Daughter Ties Nuptial Knots in Grand Style

Saturday 30th October 2021 was a day of blush and bliss for the family of the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Sports and Chairman of Akwa United Football Club, Elder Paul Bassey as their daughter Annabel Bassey was joined together in holy matrimony with her sweetheart Johnson Effiong, in a colourful wedding ceremony at the Ewet Offot District Headquarters of the Apostolic Church in Uyo.

At a soul-lifting wedding service conducted by the Uyo Field Superintendent of the Apostolic Church, Pastor Dr. I.N. George, the Lagos-based couple Annabel and Johnson were advised to always pray together as a family and exhibit genuine love for each other, as husband and wife.

The wedding reception which took place at the prestigious Ibom Hall grounds, IBB Way in Uyo, was attended by very important guests from all walks of life, friends and well-wishers among whom were top Nigeria football administrators, colleagues, business associates, clergymen and friends of Elder Paul Bassey.

The wedding reception was a grand spectacle in every sense of the word as the couple who engaged the services of some of the best hands in hospitality business treated their guests to sumptuous meals and assorted drinks and also held them spell-bound with their different dance steps and concepts, including a live music performance by the brothers of the bride, Mfon and Johnson Bassey.

Among some of the guests who witnessed the ceremony were; board member of the Nigeria Football Federation and Chairman of Enyimba International Football Club Chief Felix Anyansi Agwu, the Chairman of NPFL Club Owners Association and Chairman of Nasarawa United Football Club Barr. Isaac Danladi the Chief Executive Officer of LMC and General Manager of Enugu Rangers Football Club Mr Davidson Owumi and the General Manager of Go Round Football Club Dr. Sunny Uboh amongst other football stakeholders.

Prior to the solemnisation of the wedding in Uyo, the couple were on Thursday 28 October 2021, joined together in a traditional marriage ceremony at All Weather School grounds in Eket, according to native laws and customs and the traditional marriage was chaired by the Akwa Ibom State PDP Legal Adviser Barrister Akpadiaha Ebitu.

Other prominent dignitaries who graced the occasion in Eket include the member representing Onna State Constituency Rt. Hon. Otuekong Nse Essien and his Nsit Ibom counterpart Hon. Ifiok Udoh, the honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Hon. Frank Archibong and the Chairman of Ukanafun Local Government Council Hon. Godwin Inyieng.

The event also had in attendance the who is who in the sports community in Akwa Ibom State led by the wife of the honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports Lady Blessing Ebong Uko, the permanent secretary Ministry of Youth and Sports Akwa Ibom State Mrs Beatrice Udo Inyang, Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Football Association Hon. Imo Atat, Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Football stakeholders Forum Obong Isong Isang.

Others were the wife of the Paramount Ruler of Eket Akwaobong-awan Mandu E. C. D. Abia, Rtd Major General Etukudoh, Zonal heads of Zenith and Keystone banks,
Evangelist Dr and Mrs Bam Uket of City of Evidence Ministries Calabar, the leadership and members of NUJ led by Comrade Amos Etuk as well as the executive and members of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria SWAN Akwa Ibom State led by the chairman comrade Emmanuel Akpan.

The international award winning group, Ekemini cultural troupe also entertained guests.
