2023: Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa Picks Nomination Forms, Takes a swipe at APC

A leading contender for the Presidential Ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa has joined the growing list of PDP stalwarts seeking to fly the party’s flag in the 2023 general elections as he yesterday picked the party’s nomination forms. This is even as Ohuabunwa took a swipe at the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), accusing the ruling party of plunging the country into absolute disaster.
Speaking shortly after receiving his forms from the national Organizing Secretary of PDP, Hon. Umar Bature, Ohuabunwa regretted that Nigeria is faced with the “challenge of rescuing Nigeria from the cliff of tumbling into absolute disaster”.
He stated that “after almost eight years of the expiring visionless, wasteful and underwhelming ruling government”, Nigeria “is now languishing in the throes of chronic retrogression and decay in all indices of nationhood”.
His words: “Unprecedented insecurity stalks the land and citizens’ lives are at the daily mercy of all manner of criminals across the country. Our economy gets more downgraded and distressed, with falling Naira value, hyperinflation, disinvestment, industrial unrest and endless borrowings as some of the symptoms.
“Mass poverty has become the order of the day in Nigeria, as millions of Nigerians lack jobs and opportunities to earn a decent living, not to talk of attaining self-actualization of potential and dreams. Corruption in the public sector has worsened under the current federal government, despite their so-called anti-corruption war.
According to him, “injustice, nepotism, marginalization and lack of equity in national allocation of resources, appointments and opportunities have further polarized Nigerians, instigating sectional agitations and regional disenchantment”.
Ohuabunwa declared that his intention to seek the office of the President, federal Republic of Nigeria on the platform of PDP was informed by the urgent need “to change the perennial national narrative of doom and gloom”.
The former President of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG) noted that 2023 presents to Nigerians “the most opportune moment to enthrone a new transformational leadership that will help build a New Nigeria that ranks as a globally competitive First World country and where Nigerians are safe, fed, sheltered, empowered, happy and proud to be Nigerians”.
Ohuabunwa, disclosed that he has a “well-thought-out, written vision and blueprint to reverse the negative trend and help build a New Nigeria on the four policy pillars of Prosperity, Integrity, Justice and Security”, adding that “with all sense of sincerity and seriousness, I believe a New Nigeria can start emerging within four years of my presidency if I get elected”.
